"Cara proposed opening the kitchen to the dining room at the front of the house by putting in an opening that was as wide as four doors, and that could be closed off with a series of connected pocket doors. Most of the time we leave them open, and the kitchen and dining room become one large room, but we can close them to make the dining room more formal, or to provide privacy in the kitchen at night," said Patty Dietz.
