Gentle makeover perfects Neel Reid gem

With 11-foot ceilings and Reid's distinctive architectural symmetry, the home included oak floors, original crown moldings and a fireplace mantel that once graced the Georgia Governor's Mansion in Milledgeville. Happily, Lloyd and Lashley, working with the design firm of Spitzmiller & Norris, found the home's original blueprints at the Atlanta History Center. The renovation's first phase, which updated systems and restored the home to a faithful version of its fundamental plan, took over a year.
